This was the first game I got for the PlayStation, and still my best! I never used to like RPGs, in fact I hated them, this game changed my mind. It has it all great graphics, great cast, great battle system, and the best story of any game out there. Can I give a game 6 Stars? A masterpiece in every way. I have a few good games, like Grandia, Chrono Cross, Legend of Legaia, Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, this game is better than all those combined, and I love all of those games! Suggestion if you haven't already, BUY THIS GAME! You won't regret it!

WOW...all i have to say is that ive played a lot of RPG's..but ff7 is the worst. The most unoriginal plotline in the world...(as well as the most confusing)the game is hard to understand even after playing it 3 or 4 times. The graphics were nice and thats the only reason it got the hype it did. the music was...um...corny at best, and the only caracter with any depth was killed of for no reason.
the battles were ok...and the magic was ok...but after you got all those powerful limit breaks and magic and mime and stuff the game became easy...thus making the boss
anti-climactic. I seriously thought this was a good game but i was gravely mistaken...i hoped and prayed that they would never make another game in the series but then agian its hard to go anywhere but up after an abomination of a game like this one

I really need a tissue, not only does this game have great characters(Sephiroth, you go!!!!) but it's the first game that made me cry when you know who dies and the ending. The graphics are great, the FMVs are so great you'll cry, the characters are very lovable, and it's the greatest RPG ever! What can i say but to get this game and don't get FF8, it isn't as fun as FF7. Buy it now, you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll even need tissues!!!

This comment may be late, but when I saw the reviews that said FF7 is terrible, I can just say that they have bad and terrible taste. This game is so capturing, I love the action, and this is not boring, the escape of Tifa in the gas chamber,and you can even control how she slap the wicked woman. And of course,the reason why I favor this game so much is that,is one of squaresoft's masterpiece.

FINAL FANTACY 7 is the latest in the FINAL FANTACY series.
Does it live-up to the hype surrounding it? It depends!
If anyone remembers the game MARIO RPG for the SNES,...you ran around untill you encountered an enemy. Once you ran into an enemy,...you and your party had to take-turns fighting! During the quest you had to buy and sell items or weapons for defeating the upcomming bosses or enemies!
Well,...this is the exact same concept in FINAL FANTACY 7,...but FINAL FANTACY 7 is by far better than MARIO RPG!
In FF7,...you control Cloud,...and ex-soldier.
At the beginning of the game,...you jump-off of a train and knock out a few guards and head for the reactor with your new gang! As it turns out,...Shrina is #####ing the blood from the planet and in short,...the planet is dying,...and that is why you and your new gang friends must stop Shrina
before its too late!
You can equip 3 characters for your quest,...one being Barret! Barret is a buff african american with a machine-gun graphed to his right arm. He is basically the leader of
the gang and gives the mission orders! Farther into the game,...you collect gil (money) from fights and pick-up potions! You can even raise choccobos!
Sadly,...I have mixed decisions about FINAL FANTACY 7!
It isn't a bad game at all,...but the gameplay is a little
off-key and I think it is highly over-rated! I will discuss the over-rativity of the game first!
FINAL FANTACY 7 recieved 5 stars in THE OFFICIAL PLAYSTATION MAGAZINE,...and was labeled as the greatest game of all time by GAMEPRO! First of all,...I dont concider any game to be the best,...because there will always be something better to come along in the future,...and second,...with the flaws that FINAL FANTACY 7 contains,...it should'nt be granted with 5 stars!
The gameplay (like I mentioned above) isn't like MARIO RPG at all,...and can seem unfair sometimes! For instance,...when you are in battle and your health is down to a whopping 3%,...you are going to need a health replinisher fast,...so you must get a health power-up from your inventory,...but the problem is,...your inventory is
used in battle,...so you feel pushed to get a health power-up fast! By the time you have stopped panacing and grabbed you potion,...you are already dead! Second of all,...there is no way of erasing memory card files in FINAL FANTACY 7!
If your memory card is full with other games,...you must wipp-out some cash and go buy a new one! Not very convenient!
Back to the over-rativity again!
FINAL FANTACY 7 was said to have the best cinematics on the
Playstation! This is not so!
I've seen many beautiful cinematics that were better than the ones of FINAL FANTACY 7! The polygonal characters and camera angles can just get chunky at times!
If there is anything that RPG fans eat-up,...its story-line!
FINAL FANTACY 7 exceeds in the plot department for sure!
You can often feel for these characters when playing the game. It is cool,...sad,...and all around intreeging!
All-in-all,...FINAL FANTACY 7 is a game that both disapoints and delivers! If you love RPG's,...this is for you,...but if you dont,...leave FINAL FANTACY 7 on the shelves!

I could go on forever about this game. Every household needs this game. If you like RPG's at all you will love this. Even if you hate RPG's you'll love it. The graphics are only bad on the hands. This game beats FF8 really bad. I don't think it's possible to make a better game. The battles are fun, the story is cool, and has awesome characters. The enemy's are not boring. This is the best game for any serious Rpg player. If you hate this game, you have some MAJOR problems. I would like to give this game a 100 on a scale of 1-10. The fighting is easy yet complicated which makes it fun. Squaresoft put a lot of thought into this, and I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart. I think they should make another Final Fantasy game with the same characters. I play this game alot, although my friends think it's kinda odd.

This game was pretty good , actually i enjoyed it somewhat. but what bugs me is that they didnt make this game as they did the others in the series. 1. they made it far too easy and my other problem with this game is that everyone one i know, some are non- rpgers , liked this game. I suppose they liked it because it was easy for them and it had "Ausome Graphics" i suppose. But one of them i talked to rented ff anthology since he liked ff7 and he didnt like ff 5 or 6 because They were "too hard" and the graphics "sucked". Rpgs arent about graphics or Just beating the game. ff4, 5, 6 i liked much better then 7 and 8. and ff 4 5 6 were all released on snes. Icould give an ass about the graphics they were very fun and all had a great story and were challenging thats what makes a great Rpg. Take Xenogears for instance, favorite rpg of all time.
not good as graphics as most rpgs but the best story and battle system that i have Experience. And also Suikoden 1 and 2, not very good graphics but very fun games and great story. Well thats all i have to fill you in on overall ff7 was a good game but there are much better rpgs just to inform that ones that think ff7 is the greates rpg.

Graphics: 3.5/5 A little more than normal PlayStation action/adventure/RPG graphics. The movies are good, but at times the characters seem to have trouble moving.
Music: Possibly the best music I have ever heard on any video game.
Difficulty: Medium difficulty most of the time. There is a few bosses, however, that can be quite tough if you don't have high levels/good metira. The 3 turks at the end, the monster in the moutain near Cloud's hometown, and Sephiroth at the end. Heh, I remember trying to fight him with no great metiria and having levels in the 40's. Also the weapons at the end are pretty much impossible to beat unless you're at level 100 for everyone and have the best items and such.
It has a good battle/magic system, and a lot of replay value. The summon and limit breaks were nice touches, and the story was quite good, although confusing.

In my opinion Final Fantasy 7 is the greatest RPG ever made. Squaresoft has made a fabulous game and I give them tons of credit. This game mostly revales around a man named Cloud Strife. you play as him through most of the game and bo through many different adventures to stop an evil man named Sephiroth who is trying to destroy the world. This game is amazing it will be hard for Squaresoft ans other developers to make an RPG even as good as this game. This is an amazing game packed with tons of action, great characters, a wonderful story, and a great battle system. If I were you I would at least play this game because it is one of the best ever.

There's not much to say about this game... it is truly the best one I have ever played... the storyline is incredible, the characters are all different and have all changed by the end of the game. The cut scenes are slipped in at perfect moments, and sometimes you feel you're watching a movie, not playing a PlayStation game! The materia systems easy to get the hang of, unlike the junction rubbish from Final fantasy VIII. some people prefer number 8... but I think Final fantasy VII truly is the best game. Your parents will be screaming at you to get off the console at two in the morning... and when you go to bed all you'll be able to think of is how to get past the next monster... buy this game NOW!

Final fantasy VII isn't just good... its incredible. The first few hours gameplay just draw you straight in until the last battle... which isn't too hard, but the toughest in the game, except ruby and emerald weapon.
The cut scenes are brought in at the best moments, the story line gets deeper with every step you take. the characters aren't just thrown in at the beginning as in Final fantasy VIII... they're all brought in gradually throughout the game. At the end every character has changed in their own ways.
The materia system isn't hard to understand... in the first hours of the game I didn't get it, but then I was making combinations, and effect and loads of other stuff.
Its worth breeding Chocobos to get the Knights of round materia, because then you have a chamce of beating ruby and Emerald weapons... the toughest monsters in the game.
There's nothing else to say... some people think Final Fantasy VIII is better than no. 7... but I don't think so. they'll never be another replacement to Final Fantasy VII- go out and buy it now!

The greatest game in the world! Really good graphics, interesting story line, awsome characters, and great music. It's the longest game I've ever played, so it kept me busy for a long time. I play this game every day, and after owning it for two years, I'm still not sick of it, even after beating it and getting all the secrets, weapons, items, and materia, and defeating the WEAPONS. (in fact it seems to get better every time I play it). If I could give it a higher rating I would, but five is the best I can do. This is without a doubt the best game I have ever played and if you don't own it you should definitely buy the game.

This game is so cool. I just rented it over a month ago (June 2000) so I have to admit I was a little slow trying it but I am glad I got it. The 2 things I disliked about it are they should have an actuall voice at least during the ciematics and how hard Ruby is I tried defeating him using codes and He still took me out easilly.

I really can't see what all the fuss was about. I guess, first of all, you really have to be into RPGs to even consider this game. I was all hyped up into playing it (several friends told me it was a cool game), but an hour into the game I nearly fell asleep!
I can't believe how BORING the storyline was, how repetitive the dialogue was, and what a gross waste of time the whole game seemed to be! I think the makers of FF7 completely FORGOT that games are supposed to be fun. Don't get me wrong, I love a "challenging" game as much as anyone, but this game was stupid enough that it was more like work than play!
I think this game is a GREAT cure for insommnia!

Final Fantasy VII is my favorite RPG. It has to be one of Square's best. The storyline is the best from any RPG I've played. The music is fantastic. The cutscenes have great graphics, and are a good reflection of the story. The graphics on the world map and in towns are a little disappointing. Though I got used to the little blocky arms and heads, I never really enjoyed them. The combat graphics and cutscenes more than make up for this downside. The boss fights are challenging, yet not impossible. The MP systems isn't quite as fun as some other systems(i.e. FF8's draw), but it still contributes to hours of excellent gameplay. On the storyline, it is one of the saddist and moving stories I've played. One can instantly tell one character from their personalities. Character development was terrific(running out of positive words....). I thought there could have been more towns, but the amount of towns is still satifying. Of the Final Fantasy series games I've played(only 4), this is my favorite and possibly my all time favorite RPG.

Do the words "the best game in history" ring a bell? I have never played a better game in my life. The possibilities with the RPG are amazing. There are ssssooooooooo many side quests the game that it never ends. I played the game for 3 hours non-stop one day and still wanted to play more. I spent 40 bucks on this game and I'm happy I spent every penny of it. The characters are so creative and the plot leaves you on the end of your seat. I've never been so interested in what happens next in a game. The CGs in it are almost real. I suggest this game to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Final Fantasy 7 is the best videogame made to date. I had never really liked RPGs, except Action/RPGs like The Legend of Zelda 1 and 2. My friend tells me to go buy a PSX, and Final Fantasy 7. I take him up on it, and before you know it, I'm addicted. The graphics are excellent, the battle system is top-notch, and the music will get you humming those tunes even when you're at work. What makes this game legendary in my opinion is it's characters and the plot. The characters are so likable, that you relate with their personalities. Sephiroth, the game's nemisis still remains in my heart as one of the best villians presented in any form of literature or art. The plot, through it's many twists and surprises keeps you at the edge of your seat, and away from any existance of a social life. Weapons, magic, and summons galore help pull you into the game. And guess what- there's at least 40 hours of it to enjoy.

This is the best RPG I've ever seen. It did take a very long time for it to finally come out, after a two year delay. I even got so bored waiting for it to come out, that I wrote a storyline for it. I just took what knowledge of the game I had and recreated it in my form, my way. And I'll tell you, it was awesome. If you've ever heard of - DrkMagus Z - (me) from AOL, then you know what it was like. I even predicted most of the game in my storyline. Like the Aeris incident, but in my own way.
Anybody who's never played it, GO PLAY IT! Go get it if you don't already have it. It kicks so much ass.
My only problem with it is about the ending. I mean, the ending was awesome, with such superb graphics and FMV. But it never talks about or shows the Promised Land in the end. And I beat the game hoping to find more about it.
Oh well, I give it (on a rictor scale) a 9.99
I took .01, because of the fact that I never saw the Promised Land

There is no doubt Final Fantasy VII is still one of the greatest game in PS. However, if you look carefully, it isn't that great. I have maxed out everybody and everything and I find no difficulties in doing this. The "crabs" in the Mideel area are just plain stupid because it let u pound on it and get over 2,000 exp. There is no challenge in the game. I can finish the game in less than 40 hours without using a pheonix down. The ending destroys the game. It is short and meaningless, it gives you sense of how the story resolved. If you look at FFVIII's ending, you'll know what a REAL ending should look like.

This is the best god dang RPG that i ever played. This is one of a kind game. This game has a very good story line and has a lot of things do to if you get board. This also has some of the best movise that i EVER saw for a plystion game. The only thing that bugs me about this game is that the 3 last bosses arent that hard to beat, so of the other bosses are way harder then the last 3. Final fantasy is so great because it provides emotional entertainment, no other playstaion game has that claim, non will (not even FF8) i like everything exept the battles which can get tedious, apart from that this game is the only perfect game on the playstion, i doubt if a game like this will ever be made again, (although i'm looking forward to Shenmue on the DC) Playing this is the best experience in videogames i've ever had bar none, if you haven't got this game you have no excuse, just buy it, forget FF8 because that is useless, it doesn't have the same playabilty of FF7. If you only had the cahnce to play one game on the Playstation choose this , it brings everything good square have done in the past into a neat little package

I have read all the other reviews people have been giving final fantasy VII, some people hate it while other people have a different idea about it. Me Ilike it so much that the most time I plyaed on it was about 4 hours and that was continuous play from 7am to about 11am. I like the graphics that FFVII throws at you, music is a bit naff I thought, I like the colour scheme that is associated with FFVII. I like the plot that goes with FFVII, the story line is great, so are the characters as well

I believe that final fantasy 7 is the best game ever and if anyone dissagrees they have got some seriouse problems. yes i must addmitt as soon as you beat it 13 times it does get kinda repeditive but only if you havn't got a brain. i today will have got'n to the end of it and beaten it 14 times. out of these times i have beaten the emerald weapon(underwater weapon),the ruby weapon (the sand weapon)and the flying weapon 12 times. i will never get bored of this game, the main reason for this is because of the incredibly
gorgiouse tifa lockheart.

How can I put it I give it a full 10 stars this game is time consuming but well worth it. This game took me over two years to master every thing,I didn't say beat it I said master it. Storyline is very captivating,Graphics are cool,music is ok but could use work, you can name all of your Characters,it puts you in the game with it.
I bought this game in 1997 and I beat it December of 98 and I mastered it completely late February of 99. I only wish that Final Fantasy VIII was as good, Don't get me wrong it is Awesome too but not as fun as FF7.

If you havent heard of this game already you must live in a cave. Final Fantasy 7 is without a doubt the best RPG for playstation, and probably best RPG ever. It is way up there amongst the best games of all time in any category. Even though the story line was linear, it had to be because the story was so planned out, it was very cinematic. There are plenty of plot twists to keep you interested, and skills that you can master (such as materia combos!) The graphics were wonderfull at the time of release back in the day, but they appear a bit dated now. If you dont own this game, buy it, you can get a good price on it now and it is worth it.

The okay graphics are a big part of the game because it is hundreds of times better than FF6 which is in FF Anthology along with FF5. Along with the graphics it has a good story line and a very good veriaty of characters which you can choose for to put into play. Overall this is a great game and I insist you buy this game if you don't have it aready.

This game blows. The graphics are choppy and horrible. Too long. The game put me to sleep. The story is too simplictic. The controls are terrible. The story is great, the videos are great, the chacters are great, everything about it is the best it could possibly be. and who cares if the characters look like blocks while the're walking around? only people who whine about the game anyway, and if they whine, they shouldnt be playing the game anyway.This game is so good that you could play it over and over again, and not get bored.
everyone who says that they dont like the game, says that the the story is too complicated. I think that they confuse complicated with interesting. without the story , the game is just a boring pile of junk where all you do is kill things.Final Fantasy VII has succeded in being different then the shootem up games and has become the best rpg or any other kind of game there is for any game console that exsits, or that will ever exsist.

FFVII is the best RPG ever made (except Secret of Mana). The magic system was ingenious. Also the fighting system was good , but nothing special because all sorts of other games have the same fighting system. Also FFVII had a very good plot second only to Chrono Trigger. The only major problem was that the Squaresoft president decided to ship the game on time rather than delay and let the programmers finish the part where you can ressurect Aeris, and that would have made the game perfect. Oh well it's still a great game.

I was given ff7 for my birthday and thought it was deffinatly the best game ever. Yet when I began to play it I realized that there was a glich in the game at the Mithryll mines on the world map. I catch a Chocobo to get across the marsh and then I go through the cave opening and see the Midgar Zolom impalmed on a tree. When I go to where the opening of the mine is it sends me back to the cave opening. And from there on I can't get back in, and can only get in if I save and turn the game off. So, either I just screwed the game up or there really is a glich in the game. But other then that I think the game is the best there is and the best there ever will be.

Alright, where do I start?
Final Fantasy 7 is still, as of 5/07/2000, my favorite game ever. This was the first RPG that I ever owned and I was blown away. Although I'm sorry to say that FF8 was such a huge disappointment tht is a completely different story. Never have I ever played a game with such an engrossing storyline, I would play for hours just to see what happened next. Me and two of my friends bought the game when it first came out and we got instantly sucked in, I however was the only one to get absolutely everything there is to get. I maxed my characters out, all of them. Had two of each master materia,beat all of the bosses. Best of all, I had FUN obtaining every single secret that I could possibly earn. This came is the best Playstation game ever, even besting my second favorite title Metal Gear Solid and all of my Dreamcast games.

Final Fantasy 7. Hmmm... well it's true that the graphics are excellent and the plot is tight and involving. The main characters are like cardboard cut outs however and the so called 'interaction' is laughable. The puzzles? what puzzles? The first one was so easy I actually thought it was a tutorial for the meaty stuff later on! Alas that was not the case.
One final complaint:all through the game Sephiroth is set up to be the main guy to beat. However, the Emerald and Ruby weapons are far tougher which makes for a major anti climax.
FFVII is NOT an RPG. It is a management game (materia) with combat and a plot.

The single most compelling part of the game is the story that grows with each other and twist. You'll laugh at its inanity and feel moved to tears at its tragedies. Gasps of wonder will escape you lips at the imaginative world that Square has concieved.
The graphics are stunning except for the character who are often blocky and cartoonish (except in fully rendered CG and battle). Eventually I looked past that as their personalities and stories developed.
Gameplay is intriguing with a host of spells and weapons that can lead to vast experimentation. Overall though, it is story and character, with beautiful visuals, that will seize you into this captivating world

FF7 is probably the best game I have ever played in my life. It's so incredibly balanced with everything. You can make Cloud dress in drag and race ostriges! How many games can you do that in?? hah hah! The characters have such personality, (Cid Higwind is funnier than 'H'!-loox and acts just like my uncle Ray!)There's so much to do in it, so many secrets, like hidden characters and stuff. I think Vincent's the best=)(Like someone else in here;) ) Not only is he a hotty, but I love the way shoots things! hee hee! I get a big kick out of watching him shoot frogs! *laugh*

This game was very easy but i kinda liked it no wait i LOVED it. The materia system was a great idea. I really think the story line was pretty good. The charachters were ok, although my favorite charachter was Sephiroth,but hes pretty cool. This game also has practically no bugs in it at all. The characters were a bit arm wided with spikey butts but its no bother. I guess the only way to make the game hard is to rush through it without carring at all about leveling up. Alot of people even said the game was bad BECAUSE it was too easy. I do believe Square was just looking for popularity in the first place and so they DID make it easy for all people to learn how to play it and get into it in which the people did. Alot of other people thought it was too easy and told Square to make Final Fantasy 8 alot harder. Well.... you got your wish everybody. I am one of the mail-in dudes for that so i guess you could say i thought the game was too easy... but i didnt expect FF8 to be THIS hard. But what im basically trying to say is that if your new at RPGs then THIS is the GAME FOR you.

I think this game is the COOLEST!!!!! game ever. I admit when I first purchased the game I thought it was a totall blow out. I thought I wasted my money then I got into the game realized how cool it is. I feel so stupid that I didn't like it before. Final Fantasy 7 was the all time greatest RPG that I have ever played in my entire life. The music was extravigant and the battles were the best part about the game. The Materia was totally awsome and the Knights of Round was my all time favorite. The final battle is extremely cool for a game with sharp graphics. The only problem with this game was that the characters and scenery were squared off instead of smoothed out. But overall if you want an RPG to play I suggest getting Final Fantasy 7 right away because now it is a greatest hits game and normaly costs about $20.00. So getting this game will be a major yes for a final fantasy fan.

Final Fantasy Seven is one of the best games I have ever played.(followed closly by FF8) This game supports excellent graphics and a deep story, my only complaint is if you're friend comes over and you're on the 3rd CD you might have to spend 40 minutes telling what happened. This story touches on many human emotions,love,hate, anger and so on.The story takes almost half of the 1st Cd to get into but once it starts it is a touching story for most people. I bought this game in August and beat it in March. There are so many mini-games you could play for 3 years and not get bored. I think this is an A class game that should be made into a movie. A very good deal now that it is a greatest hit. (About $30 Canadian, not bad.)

I know you people dont like being told what to think, but I'm tellin ya unequivocably that FF7 is the best game of all time. Ya aint gonna find a better RPG, (as far as I know - and yes, I have played FF8 ).For starters, the game had a brilliant storyline, which is arguably the core of any RPG. There is an entire world out there, from the appocalyptic, Blade-runner-esque spires of Midgar to the mysterious ruins of the city of ancients,to rural tranquility of Corel to the futuristic Las Vegas of the Saucer. Damn interesting, varied settings. Actually, I guess by definition, the characters are the core, and this game dont disappoint much here either. The characters meld the semi-ridiculous cutesiness of past manga style adventures with hard-bitten realism, allowing them to fight bitter battles for world sumpremecy that actually grip you one minute while whirling around a race course on brightly colured chckens the next. As for the people themselves, they are a varied , cool bunch. The best thing about this game is that it really does grip you emotionally, while remaining disconnected enough to allow you to make the characters your own. As in any gripping story, the relationships are the most important part. Here you have straight off the dislike between eco-terrorist Barret and cold-hearted mercenary Cloud. There is the whole love triangle thing. Cloud is a brilliant central character, a tough, cool figther, devoid of the often annoying fanatical do-goding of other heroes. His character is developed and explored throughout a huge game,as are those of the other 8 playable chararcters. His mysterious past and its unfolding is one of the key elements, and while we are talking about relationships, his past friendship with Sephiroth is also a masterstroke, building up to a classic twist.
Probably the thing that really mmakes this game is not only its size, but how its size is used to great effect. The settings change from urban and futuristic to ancient, sorcery based locations. There is a huge, sweeping storyline delving into the intimate past of all the characters all of which interconnects brilliantly. Some, like Cloud's and Aeris', are not part of the necessary gameplay but can be gleaned by the initiative of the curious player. At the same time, there are many incidental subgames, (including a truly brilliant take on Road-Rash ), and literally hundreds of characters wandering the towns. You could spend hours hereing what each ione has to say. There is not one major badguy, but at least two: one, president Shinra, has an entire staff of baddies, here's a list just to give you a taste: Heidegger the general, Hojo the scientist, Tseng, head of the Turks (dont ask ) Reeve, the Midgar administrator, Scarlet, the munitions chief, ....each one is met, each has a personality.......and that's just half the story! On the other side you have the mysterious connection of Sephiroth, an enigmatic warrior seeking omnipotence.
This is the sort of game that, provided you take time to eat etc, will probably take you ages. I just cant overemphasise its scope : there are ideas introduced initially, like a search for a promised land, that I forgot all about, so many other things were happening. I am replaying the game because I have already forgotten much of the begining.
I haven't even mentioned the actual gameplay yet. The materia system is not too complicated, but its compexity adds to the enjoyment. It is up to you if you wish to maximise your magic potential, etc. In keeping with the enormous theme of the game, the stats side has hundrdeds of goals to complete: there are spells to collect, summon demons, battle commands, skills which can be stolen from baddies,litterally hundreads of differenet weapons, items of armour giving different abilities, hell, even toy soldiers ! I've completed the game once, but i've only found about a third of these things on the way. And I haven't even mentioned Chocobo breeding. The battle system is a drawback : random fights every so often make exploring annoying and difficult some times. ( I should mention this is pretty much the only weakness ) At first, the whole " you hit me, then I hit you " fighting style annoyed me , but its actually quite a good approximation of real life once you realise that after an attack, you are "recharging you batteries " and not simply waiting to be creamed like in some dodgy Laurel and Hardy sketch invovling buckets of water. And when you see how many battle options you can ammass by the end, you realise this is one of the most exiting and challenging battle methods, with much more scope than moving a little man around a pressing x to hit.
Final mention must be made of the incredible imaginative world. Everything interlinks and is explained : the concept of the life stream and how it coaleses into materia, the gloriously satiracal and cynical conceptf big business so all consuming it is sucking up the magical life-force of the planet to make electricity, to make cash. MMMM, nice. The idea of the evil company was more original tha an evil king or something like that.
All in all, the sheer amount of storyline, vividness, gameplay and adaptibility, along with incredible emotion and atmosphere, make this the most amazingexperience you can have with a playstation. Graphics aint bad either. And yes, I reaise that some game elements were present in previous FF games, bad I doubt in such depth or quantity. If you think this game is complicated, Hell that's the point and if you are willing to experience it, beleive me you will enjoy it.

This review come little bit too late, but now there's games to compare. Game is old and it's still third in my list. Couple of years has past since I got this game and the game look still good. Music are still great, Cid's theme, Aeris theme and of course "One winged angel". Backgrounds look good. Characters arent very realistic looking, but character animation is good. Still, I liked characters appearance when I first time played the game and I still do, but I like FF8 and Prasite Eve characters appearance even more. This game will remain history of first Final Fantasy game for Playstation and it was best at the time. This game is certainly earned full 5 stars.

Simply this game is brilliant. the graphics are good, the sound needs improving, but other than that it is great. I love the part when u drive the motorcycle. at first I had trouble because I ran away from almost every fight. by the time I got to the end it took me almost an hour to beat bizzaro sephiroth, but I could not come close to beating safer sephiroth. but after I played again, I got everyones ultimate weapon, I got everyones levels maxed out, and I got 99 megalixers. I beat emerald weapon (Who was very diffucult) I kicked safer sephiroths ass. and won the game. of course it took 4 months but I was victorious.
Where was I? Oh yes altogether this game rulz it is worth the $20 price. one final note: the music to safer sephiroth Rocks. it sets the mood for the moment.

When you first look at my review you might think, 'a girl wrote this so it doesn't really count'. Well in general terms I think that the playstation is the best thing that ever happened to the gaming industry. Playstation two will unquestionably be the champion of all consols.
However, getting back to the games. I enjoy many such as Metal Gear Solid, Driver, Gran Trusimo and Resident Evil. I enjoy nothing more than running around blowing the heads off zombies. Which brings me to final fantasy 7. I must confess that I have not played any of the earlier titles. It was a friend that first mentioned how good the game was. After buying it I must say that I find it very hard to put down. All of my spare time is happily spent on this game. In fact once I have loded up the game I find it takes a great deal of will power to switch it off again.
The storyline is very involving and the FMV sequences are mind blowing. I am looking forward to the next big challange when I compleet this game, Final Fantasy 8.

The GameMaster here. Hi. Ah yes, the one, the only Final Fantasy VII. This game is the all-time best for the Playstation. This game when not bieng played, should be in a glass case(Much like Zelda for 64). This game is excellent in every aspect except for gameplay graphics, but if you expect the entire game to be a cinema scene you're sadly mistaken. If you want that, buy a DVD player although it would be just a little hard to find it for DVD considering the fact that it will never go to DVD. This game needs to be praised. Not buying this game would be like destroying every city on the Earth. This is not a "Rent Only" type of game. Get off your A$$ and BUY IT NOW. Sorry, guess I got carried away. Well one fact is that it is the game to be played for Playstation so buy it.

It keeps you on your toes with the music, the different levels, different enemies, and the various twists to the story line. This is one of the best games of all time. It has everything you could want. Good graphics, awsome cut-scenes (Tifa's large breast in the last cut-scene), a good story line. What more could you ask of it? I especially the way they changed the quest of the characters. Like how they start off trying to safe the planet by being a rebelous group blowing up reactors, to stoping a super-being (might i mention that Sephiroth is the coolest character, good or evil, out of every game) to stop him from blowing up the world. In short FF7 is the best game for playstation to the day. And FF8 sucked! I'm sorry, I was expecting way more. FF7 ruled so much more over FF8 it was sickening. Tru FF8 had good graphics, but come on a fighting college that could FLY!!? come on thats retarted. And not to mention the dumb way you use spells like items. And the cards, COME ON, were not playing pokemon or magic the gathering here, we want to play an RPG. So FF7 is better than FF8 and is the best game ever.

This is a great game for people who love RPG's like I. Although it is time consuming it is worth the time. The okay graphics are a big part of the game because it is hundreds of times better than FF6 which is in FF Anthology along with FF5. Along with the graphics it has a good story line and a very good veriaty of characters which you can choose for to put into play. Overall this is a great game and I insist you buy this game if you don't have it aready.

This game lacks terribly in every detail. I thought the point of good graphics is for realism. Last time I checked, People have elbows wider than string. I would like to say that this is probably the longest game you'll ever see. Quite apart from the endless side areas and quests, if you persevere past the first disk youl probably complete it at least three times. The graffics on this game are unfortunatly not very good, possibly because of them being almost three years old. However, this is more than made up for by the scope, style, sound and sheer exuberance of the game as a whole. The real strength of this game is that it doesn't take itself to seriously and it isn't to jokey. It has dramatic scenes (the death of Aeris) and fun
scenes (chocobo racing). I will now disclose some of the most closely guarded secrets of FF7. 1.Chocobo Breding. This takes an awful long time and a lot of money, but is very rewarding. Firstly go to Chocobo Bill's Farm (where you caught a chocobo on the first disk to avoid the Midgar Golem) and purchase as many Chocobo Stalls as you can afford. Now, you need to capture some great or good Chocobos. You will know how good a chocobo is by what the person in charge of the farm says when you are putting a chocobo in a stable. When he says: "This is a great Chocobo" then you know you've got one. I find that Mideel is a good place to catch them. When you have a male and a female go to Bone Village and fly South-East to a plain with dark green grass. Walk around and eventually you'll meet a monster called the Valkredos. Seat from him and you''l get a carob nut. Mate your two chocobos with this and you'll hopefully get either a blue or a green chocobo. A blue chocobo can walk on shallow water and a green can climb
some mountains. Repeat this process until you have a green and a blue chocobo thatyou can mate . Mate them with a carob nut and then you'll have a black chocobo. Next go to the chocobo tracks near Icicle Inn. Capture a wonderfull chocobo from there (Choco Billy will say "This is......a wonderfull chocobo"). Fly to a chain of islands north of the farm. On one of them will be a forest. In this forest you will encounter creatures called goblins. Defeat them and you will have a zeio nut. Mate the black chocobo with the wonderfull chocobo. The result will be a gold chocobo which can go anywhere. You can then use it to travel to several areas which were previously inaccessible. 2.Master Materia. Once you have mastered all the materia of a particular group go to Bugenhagen's machine and talk to the huge materia of the appropriate colour and you will recieve one big materia that can do everything. 3.Advice on Taking on Ruby and Emerald Weapon. Don't.

I really donīt understand how you manage to make such an INCREDIBLE game. I mean...From the beginnig to end I really couldn`t understand how great it was. The story took me and hold me stuck and there was times when I just sat down in a chair after playing and just...Felt AMAZE!!!
Even now, after playing it through 2 ― times I canīt get it of my mind. Every time when I just hear or see a thing that remind me of it I feel that I have to play it.
I think itīs time to buy the 8!
The feeling in Final Fantasy VII is something you HAVE to experience to understand.
And all those that say that it is a boring or bad game should think twice and try too see how much work it needs to make a "game" like this. First of let me tell you, that this my favourite RPG. It has everything an RPG needs. The story is absolutely great, the characters are well chosen and integrated into the story and the battles are challenging, yet not frustrating. The graphics are incredible for their time and even nowadays better than most Playstation games. Furthermore there are countless weapons, armors and other items to be found during the game. Of course, like most RPGs, the game is extremely long, at least about 50 hours unless you rush and miss the story. Even if you already have beaten the game, you can spend hours finding better weapons and beating stronger monsters. Also the new materia-magic system is very well thought up and fun to experiment with. The music is allright most of the game, sometimes itīs even great but sometimes it can be really disturbing. One thing I disliked very much, but whatīs not different in most other RPGs either, is the lack of characters. 8.5 characters (Aeris dies after the half game, hence I consider her only a half character) are not enough for a game that long. Before this game, my favourite RPG was Final Fantasy 6, which had 14 characters so I had high expectations in this point. However, unless you are someone who cannot stand to play any RPGs, I couldnīt understand you if you didnīt like this game. One last thing I want to say is, that Sephiroth is one of the coolest enemies Iīve ever encountered and that the music in the final battle is absolutely great.

Final Fantasy Came almost two years ago and I was in the store the other day and three people were buying it! I got it for christmas 97 and had some doubts. As soon as I started to play it I was hooked. If you have a playstation and do not own this game BUY IT!!!! The story line is incredible, the cast of charicters is unbeliveable, and it will keep you playing all night long! if you compare it to Zelda , Zelda #####s s**t. I paid 75.00 bucks for zelda and 50.00 ff7. after I beat Zelda once it just sat there and collected dust, after I beat ff7 I wanted to pop the first disk back in and start over. I rate this game very high. If you dont live in a cave you must have this game. FF8 is comming out soon and when it does I still encourage you to buy Final Fantasy VII!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having an ex-Solder going against his old bosses and one of his friends is a very good Idea. Firstly when I hired Final Fantacy VII I thought developers spent 10 years on a game and came up with a piece of rubbish. That was probably because the game doesn't start of to convincingly. But after hearing my friend raving in my ear about how good it was I decided to give it a nother shot.
So I asked him if I could borrow it ounce he finish the game. I played the game for a while and got onto the world map(a large free roaming area where you can save at any time). Once this happened I was completely hooked on the game. The fight sequences are the best I have seen in any game and the range of weapons, items and characters is really great.
There are nine playable characters in the game, these are my four favorites:
CLOUD STRIFE,
The central character of the game and the person you control. He uses a vereation of swords.
RED XIII,
This character is a red, cyote like beast. He uses sharp head dreses to attack enemies in a spinning formation.
CID HIGHWIND,
Cid is 32 year old experienced pilot who uses different spears in combat.
When in a fight you can only use three characters exept for some sertain situations.
I played the game over the Summer holidays and eventually finished it. The game is not very hard but very time consuming. FFVII rearly gets boaring, this is because the game has multiple bosses, caves and new areas to explore.
And once you complete the game, you will want to do it all again. When fightind the final boss Sephiroth you will be ate the edge of your seat. To make beating him easier use wall on all characters. This helps alot when he summons the Jenova Comet.
Overall FFVII must be the best game I have ever played and I recomend it to all who read my review.

finally another game squaresoft can be proud of. the only other game (except the other finally fantasys) that squaresoft has made that dident suck was crono trigger. thsi game was the bomb. graes t graphic great gameplay great sound great great great. the sommons and limit breake in this game are so cool. I personly have done anything and everything that could possably be done. i have beaten everythin and i have all my charecters maxed out in every possible way. (i am invicelbe.)like i said this is a top quality game except for sephroth he is the last guy of the game, and he is so easy it makes me sick. i beat him with only one charecter and i used no magic attacks at all.
P.S. buy this game ( all three people that don't already have it)
P.S.S don't buy the stadagey guide it is a wast of money (squaresoft can not make a good guide.)

When i first played ff7 i thought man is this game start off slow. then i played deeper and deeper into the game unlocking a storyline unimaginable. It was amazing, the characters are detailed and easy to love, the music puts a great affect on the game, and attack system is at the top of its line. The graphics are out of the world considering though, that ur guy is a purple blob w/ yellow hair but the worlds and all the surroundings are playstation abilities at its best. I also own FFV and FFVI and was not to happy with them; but FFVII has got to be the best out of all the FF games (yes I have played all of them) I think that how much stuff costs and the little amount of Gil you get for beating monsters sucks. This game was great, with a deep complex story line, great char. development, great music, great villians.. it was just great. classic Final Fantasy Gameplay with some new features, I loved this game. The only flaw was that square got into its old habit of slacking off near the end. They establish this great first 2/3 of the game, and then a crap ending for it. The main rivalry between Hero and friend and the Currupt shinra company was very intruiging, but it was completly thrown out when Sephiroth, the final villain, came into the picture. It's like the game forgets cloud was fighting Shinra for most of the game. Then there is lille charactar dialogue from this point on and it sucks. I felt when I was playing it that it was the best game ever, then when i got near the end I was extemely disapointed as the storyline went down hill and crashed at the ending. However, that does not taint this classic role playing game's charm.. a must have for all fans of the genre.

The graphics aren't much compared to FF8 but everything else is totally superior to FF8. The battle system is awesome. The freedom for exploration is amazing. the plot, storyline, theme whatever you want to call it is incredible. i love the gameplay. An excellent game with a great and meaningful story line. The backdrop graphics are bright and sharp, and video cut scenes are well done. The music get you into the mood as you fight or wander across various towns and places. There are plenty of items, magic (materia), weapons, etc to try and use. Unlike the RPG's on PC, most puzzles in FFVII are straight forward offering little challenge. It can be very addictive and hard to put down at times, but overall the gameplay is good. I think people who want to fully enjoy FFVII should play it at they own pace, and not to try and clock it within a time period. I think buying FFVII is worth the money.
